Ailsa has some beautiful photos of walls this week, and she asks us to share our wall photos. So, here are mine:
- Slabs of stone make a retaining wall at Grounds for Sculpture near Trenton, NJ
- THE Wall – the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., engraved with the names of those who didn’t come home
- Mosaic walls of the Duomo in Florence
- A maze of ruined walls at Chaco Canyon, New Mexico
- Wall painting in Pompeii – it’s hard for me to grasp that when this was new, the man in the picture wasn’t in costume, he was wearing normal clothes

A nice selection for the challenge!
Thanks!
These are all really interesting. I know what you mean about Pompeii, its hard to grasp isn’t it?
Thank you, Gilly. Yes – If anything, the fact that my mind knows the Pompeiian artists were painting “normal” things makes the time gulf even bigger.
Oh no. I’m doing that “nothing stays the same” thing again, aren’t I??
love the NM stone and sky.
They’re beautiful, aren’t they?
they are all good Christine but I think I like Pompeii best…love anything to do with that place
A fascinating town, what’s left of it – thanks.
